Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words)

Over the three years I have been here at this college I have progressed quite far, however there is still areas of improvement. One subject I have excelled in the most is emotionally connecting myself to characters and the way that should effect my acting, I’ve learnt a lot of different techniques when it comes to connecting myself to the character. I’ve learnt many practitioners which have helped me outline how to get out of my head and how to think like the characters I am portraying. I’ve seemed to play a lot of characters which help the main protagonist this year, which is good because it has taught me how to relationship block, which is where you block the path of the relationship between you and the main character and how it influences their story. For this project i have decided to challenge myself with playing the main protagonist. This comes with a lot of challenges which I haven’t faced yet in my three years. I believe these challenges are the final push of my journey here at college.

Section 2: Project concept (approx. 200 words)

For the end of year project which spans 5-6 weeks, I am aiming to successfully play the main protagonist of The Railway Children. Discovering the bonds between characters and the storytelling aspect of it. The Railway Children is very heavy on the story-telling and narration for the characters, you are telling this story to the audience, breaking the forth wall. So as part of my Project Concept I will plan out how I am going to differentiate these moments and the shift between child Roberta and Adult Roberta. During the 5-6 weeks of rehearsals I will divide them into mine projects which I can do, leading to when I will eventually be on stage performing. For the production side of the Final Project I decided to take a back foot, as I’ve done a lot on the other projects for the year, however my first task will be creating a props list for the show so we can collect as much as possible so we are rehearsing with it.  This will all be presented on my Blogger, where I will identify what I have followed and what I am changing as new challenges arise for me in this project.

Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)

I will evaluate this final project using my Daily blogs, evaluating each day as it comes, and what im going to do to improve the next day, continiously evaluating and re-looking at this to change and stay on track when we are in the thick of rehearsal. Using a checklist on my blogs to check of tasks I have set myself to ensure I achieve them in the time frame I have.

Proposed research sources and bibliography (Harvard format)

This section provides an opportunity to record the initial research sources, both primary and secondary, that you intend to use. Your sources of research should be as wide as possible, including libraries, museums and galleries, books, theatre/ film/video, magazines, TV/radio programmes, web sites etc. Where appropriate you should use the Harvard system of referencing. The bibliography should be continuously updated as the project progresses.

Project action plan and timetable:
This section provides you with an opportunity to outline your planning and organisation over a period of weeks and the activities you will need to carry out in order to successfully complete your project in the agreed time frame. The more time and thought you give to planning your project, the more successful it is likely to be.
It is important that you consider how you will balance ambition, time and realism in the realisation of the project. You should also include what you are going to do, how you will do it and by when. Remember to include: time spent sourcing materials and other resources to conduct research, seek feedback from tutors and peers, and identify when you will carry out independent study.
